Session Details for Clients
Individual clients
Individual clients undergo a comprehensive initial consultation followed by a series of subsequent consultations, depending on the client’s needs. Initial consultations typically last one hour and involve ascertaining the client’s goals for therapy through an interview with the psychologist and pencil-and-paper questionnaire. Subsequent consultations typically last 50 minutes and are done in an individualised, systematic, and flexible format agreed upon by the client and their psychologist.
Information on rebates.
Private Health Insurance rebates
Depending on your level of cover, psychological services often receive a rebate form Private Health Insurance Providers. Check with your current provider for details of rebates you will receive for work done with Slim St.
Better Access to Mental Health Care
If you meet the criteria for the Better Access to Mental Health Care scheme, every session will receive a $75.00 Medicare rebate for up to 12 sessions per calendar year. This requires a referral from your General Practitioner or Psychiatrist (if applicable). Your General Practitioner, Psychiatrist or Slim St Psychologist can determine your eligibility for this scheme. You may come to the initial consultation with a referral or your Slim St Psychologist can advise you of your eligibility in the initial consultation, and ask you to get a Doctor’s referral to receive the rebate for subsequent sessions.
Group clients
Slim St also run’s weight management groups from time to time. Group work can be extremely effective as well as cost-effective for group members. If you have a number of people wishing to undertake Slim St therapy for sustained weight change, please contact Glenn for further information. Group work can also receive rebates, depending on the Private Health Insurance of the members, and eligibility for the Better Access to Mental Health Care scheme.
